“…its combination of
intimacy, fresh information and rough
edges will give you a view of the grass
roots of the art world that is available
nowhere else.”– Roberta Smith, The
New York Times
Founded in
2002, Scope’s mission is to broaden the
art world by presenting cutting-edge
contemporary art and emerging culture.
Scope achieves this goal by presenting
up-and-coming dealers, curators, and
artists alongside museum quality
programming. Over the past five years,
Scope has produced seventeen art fairs
in
New York,
Miami , Los Angeles,
London , and the
Hamptons . We are excited to
announce the premiere of
Scope Basel in June 2007.
Scope
has built
a reputation as the art fair that
launches important young galleries and
artists, making it the resource for
established and burgeoning
collectors, museum and corporate
curators, and the general public .
The fair distinguishes itself by
upholding its unique tradition of
requiring each
exhibitor to focus on the work of
one contemporary artist or to curate a
focused statement. In addition to
presenting cutting-edge work by emerging
artists, Scope presents a full program
of
VIP events,
children's programming,
grants and awards ,
video and film screenings, and art
performances . In addition to the
Emerging Artist Grants, Independent
Curator Awards, and Performance-scope
Grants,
funds are given to grass-roots
organizations that support under-funded
art education programs in the local
communities Scope exhibits.
Scope’s continued mission is to turn
viewers into users. Founded in 2002,
Scope gives a view of the contemporary
art-world available nowhere else. Scope
international art fairs present
up-and-coming dealers, curators, and
artists, alongside museum quality
programming.
